Cruise Details
Before setting sail from the charming Royal Ramsgate Harbour you will be warmly welcomed on board the Mona Lisa with a complimentary glass of champagne.
The skipper will navigate north towards the North Foreland lighthouse and once clear of the break waters will increase speed to a comfortable cruising speed and start your cruise out to the biggest offshore wind farm in the world. The Mona Lisa’s sonar will be on so that you will be able to monitor the changing sea bottom and also see any wrecks or shoals of fish that we pass over.
Sit back and relax while we blast through the open waters, taking full view of the beautiful Kent coastline as we bayblast on out into the deeper water.
The wind farm site does have some restrictions and we need to keep 500m away from the site. This is not problem as the site is so large that being too close does not give you the full picture of this engineering structure. You will also see the large sub station that all the wind turbines are connected to.
The water depth varies between 20m – 30m dependent of state of tide, and the farm is very exposed to the elements. The Mona Lisa is the ideal vessel due to her size, enclosed cockpit and upper deck heating. The skipper of the Mona Lisa is also a skipper of one of the windfarm support vessels, and has been on the project since the start so has a good knowledge of the site.
